Steer clear of Carbis Bay for the few days while G7 is on. That’s the advice from St Ives MP Derek Thomas in his latest update to constituents.

“Preparations for the G7 Summit are ramping up now and the attention has definitely turned towards the logistics of hosting ten of the world’s leaders in West Cornwall safely and with as little disruption as possible,” he said.
“My advice is to stay well away from St Ives and Carbis Bay during the summit and enjoy the fact that West Cornwall is playing host to one of the most important global summits in our lifetime.
“The leaders will wrestle with how the world can recover from a devastating pandemic in a way that is equitable and leads to opportunity and hope for people that live in some of our poorest countries. They will also seek to come up with the best ways to drive down global carbon emissions at pace.
“The sheer amount of work that this summit demands of very many people across Cornwall is absolutely worthwhile if positive, effective, and rapid change is delivered.”
