Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road traffic collision on the A30 at Canon’s Town yesterday (Thursday).
The road was closed for several hours, with traffic diverted to Penzance via Helston. There were also long traffic delays on the Old Coach Road and up through Cripplesease and Nancledra. Officers from the Roads Policing Team would like to thank the public for their patience while the road was closed.
Police were notified of a collision involving a black BMW 3 Series Touring and a Silver Mercedes E-Class Estate at around 11am. As a result of this collision, the driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 80s, sustained serious injuries.
A 39-year-old man from Penzance was arrested on suspicion of driving dangerously and driving while unfit through drugs. He was released on police bail until 31st October.
