The author of a book chronicling a tour of English and Welsh lighthouses is to give a talk on the project in St Ives Ives in May.
Ed Peppitt is an MS sufferer and lighthouse expert who undertook a 3,500-mile ride to visit 327 of the structures.
His book tells of his quest to fulfil the promise he made to himself as a small child, nestled in the bed of an attic room while the glow of Dungeness lighthouse flashed past his window — a comforting, ever-present companion. It is also a loving tribute to the coast; not only its beautiful landscape, but also the communities that make it so special.
Ed is a fundraising ambassador for Shift MS, a charity aimed at keeping MS sufferers as active as possible. He is also the Association of Lighthouse Keeper’s representative for South East England, and writes and presents Keeping Watch, a fortnightly podcast about lighthouses.
Ed will be at Porthmeor Studios on 23rd May, at 6.30pm, in an event organised by St Ives Bookseller. Tickets cost £5 and are available here. Refreshments will be available.
