A man has been arrested and released on bail after a collision between and car and two pedestrians on St Ives Trelyon Road yesterday (Tuesday) evening.

The incident, at around 7.45pm, involved a grey BMW 1 series car and two pedestrians. Both pedestrians, a man and woman, were taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries. One is described as having life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a 45-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention. He has been released on bail while enquiries are ongoing.
Trelyon Avenue was closed for about eight hours to allow forensic collision investigators to examine the scene and for recovery of the vehicle. Police have thanked the public for their patience while this was done.
