The event will take place at the Palemon Best Park from 10am until 2pm. The aim is for young readers to embark on a creative journey filled with inspiration and discovery.

At the Reading Challenge Summer Fun Day you’ll find:

  • Creative workshops: hands-on sessions where kids can express their creativity through art, storytelling, and crafts.
  • Football games: fun, friendly matches, perfect for burning off energy and learning teamwork skills.
  • The Cornwall Libraries library bus: A mobile library experience providing access to a wide range of books and resources.
  • Shanty singing: lively sessions of traditional shanty songs, celebrating the local maritime culture.
  • Mini Olympics with the Scouts: athletic challenges and games, where children can compete and collaborate in a spirit of friendly competition.

“Reading not only fuels imagination, but also enhances creativity, providing children with the tools to think creatively and express themselves uniquely,” said a spokesperson for St Ives Town Council.

“The Summer Reading Challenge is designed to boost young readers’ confidence and foster a lifelong love for reading and creative exploration.”
