Yonkers St Ives are to host a free pop-up youth music event, Up Next, in Trewyn Gardens, in the heart of St Ives, this Saturday (28th June).

Rosana Cox and Tom Harding with young musicians Joe and Cormac
Suitable for all the family, this relaxed and low-key event will showcase local youth talent and some fantastic original music.
Yonkers St Ives, the youth arm of St Ives Town Council, has been working with several talented local young people to record original music. Musicians aged 16 to 25 were given the opportunity to spend four hours recording music they had written themselves.
The project would not have been possible without the skills and enthusiasm of one young person, Tom Harding, who brought his equipment and know-how to the sessions, which took place at the Edward Hain Centre in February.
Rosana Cox, youth engagement and projects officer, said the project was “a truly rewarding and enjoyable experience. A huge thank you to Leila, Joe, Cormac, and Tom for sharing your creativity and supporting one another.”
The Trewyn Gardens event, which will run from 11.30am-2pm, will offer a closing to Yonkers’ first music project. “As this event in Trewyn Garden’s demonstrates, when young people are heard, they can make things happen,” said Rosana. “We hope to see you there.”
