A fundraising campaign has been set up to finance a vital operation for St Ives kitten Sharkie, born with a rare condition called pectus excavatum.

Affected kittens often show a visible indentation in the chest, breathing difficulties (tachypnea), cyanosis (blue-tinted skin), and a significant failure to thrive.
At the moment he is cuddly, plays, runs, and eats well. But he requires a CT scan at £750 and his owners have had a quote for £1,600, which comprises the scan plus surgery.
The prognosis is often good for kittens who undergo successful surgical correction, allowing them to live high-quality lives.
Donations are being collected via this Go Fund Me page. Any surplus money raised will be donated to the National Animal Welfare Trust, in Hayle.
