The duo behind Barnoon Arts are settling into their new home, at the Old Post Office, in Tregenna Place, St Ives, and putting their stamp on the premises.
For the past few years, Zoe Eaton and Peter Giles have been enjoying the sea air from a spot on Westcotts Quay, opposite St Ives Arts Club. But the two-storey place was very cramped, with little wall space for their popular art, and the artists’ supplies they also stock.
All that changed when they became aware of the suite of rooms in the Old Post Office, recently vacated by an accountancy company. It’s a world of difference with the artists’ supplies having what amounts to their own shop space, and so much room for not only Zoe and Peter’s art, but that of other artist friends, too.
The rooms are big and light — perfect for creating and displaying art — and there’s plenty of space for the pair to have their own studios, as well as area for their popular workshops.
You’ll know Zoe for her colourful abstract works, often from a pastel-shaded palette, and Peter for his forensic, intricate, detailed patterns and designs.
The gallery is open to the public, to come and have a browse, book a workshop, or stock up on those art supplies, and there are teas and coffees available.
Starting on Saturday (3rd October) and running until 8th November, there’s a chance to familiarise yourself with Zoe and Peter’s work (if you haven’t already) in a joint exhibition entitled simply This is What We Are. Drop in from 4-7pm for the private view.
Also, on 17th October, you can join Zoe at St Ives Arts Club for an Art and Wine session, from 5-7pm. This is an intuitive art session with no rules or expectations. Simply see where you creativity takes you. And enjoy some wine. Book here
