It was almost like midsummer again as Apple Day was celebrated — two weeks late, due to weather — at St Ives Community Orchard.

As the name suggests, it’s all about the apple harvest, from the wide range frown at the orchard, situated by the Palemon Best Recreation Park.

There was, of course, freshly-pressed apple juice and cider to enjoy, but also apple-themed hot food and cakes. There was also an apple pie-making competition.

Tate St Ives and Leach Pottery helped to organise artistic activities, including plenty to keep youngsters amused. And there was music, too, from Tom Lazy, Global Jamming, Keskorra, and the Hokum Boys.
