ARKangel are returning to the St Ives September Festival with a new show, As I Walked Out, tracing the epic journey of Laurie Lee through words and music.

ARKangel

ARKangel are Katherine and Alan Clark. They follow Laurie Lee’s journey from the comfort of rural Gloucestershire to the deprivations of a life on the road.

From the smouldering gypsies of Malaga to the fire-blackened Christ of Almuñécar. From the naivety of a 19-year-old to the Spanish Socialist call to arms.

Interwoven with the music of Vaughan Williams, John Ireland, Manuel de Falla, Rodrigo, and Lorca, the show also features traditional Andalusian song.

Tickets for the show, at the St Ives Society of Artists’ Mariners Gallery on Wednesday, 13th September, are available online at stivesseptemberfestival.co.uk, at the Visitor Information counter at St Ives Library, or by calling 01736 796297. Admission includes a free CD of the show for every ticket holder.

• Apologies to ARKangel and our friends at St Ives September Festival as we missed out the venue in our listings in the current magazine.
