Passengers are being warned of potential disruption to services on Go Cornwall buses this Friday (2nd October) due to an industrial dispute.

RMT union members voted overwhelmingly to take action to assert their right to trade union representation within the company. It is not known, however, what form that action will take.

“At this stage, we do not know precisely how, when, or where any disruption may occur,” said a spokesperson for Go Cornwall. “The industrial action is in the form of a work-to-rule, meaning the impact on services may vary and may be difficult to predict in advance.

“While not every Go Cornwall Bus employee is involved in the industrial action, some disruption remains possible. Customers should therefore allow extra time for travel and check for the latest service information before they travel.”

Updates will be provided through the Go Cornwall Bus app, website, and social media channels as the situation develops.

RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said that Go Cornwall should accept the result of the TUC Disputes Committee verdict back in January to recognise RMT.

“It is time Go Cornwall respected the democratic choice of the whole workforce by creating a united bargaining structure that genuinely protects every driver and depot worker,” he said.
