LOTE 4 Kids is an online collection of digital children’s books in more than 75 languages, including sign language. The collection includes 5,500 books, with new books and languages released each month. Each book has an English translation, and the bilingual options allow children to learn a language as they go.

The subscription service has been paid for by the Cornwall Library Service and the Council’s Resettlement Service. This means all library users can access the resource for free.

Ten Cornish books were recently added to the collection after translations were provided by the Council’s Cornish Language Team. They include Theo’s Wobbly Tooth (Dans Lows Theo) and The Giant Turnip (An Ervinen Gowrek).

Books are also available in languages such as Dari, Pashto (Afghan dialects), and Ukrainian, giving resettled children living in Cornwall access to storybooks in their first language.

To access LOTE4KIDS, you’ll need to sign up to the Cornwall Library service which can do for free on the Cornwall Council website. You can access the online catalogue by going to the LOTE4Kids website.
