The event gets under way at 11am and runs through until 5pm. The lovingly restored outdoor space has been designed to help visitors unwind, reflect, and reconnect with nature. The project has been made possible thanks to funding from the LHC Community Benefit Fund, in association with Locality.

Throughout the event, guests will be free to explore the garden at their own pace, enjoying gentle sensory experiences created to promote relaxation and wellbeing.

Visitors will be encouraged to spend time in the quiet seating areas, ideal for reflection and mindful rest, and to plant a seed to take home, or add messages of hope and encouragement to the Wellness Wish Tree.

A ribbon cutting will be undertaken by St Ives mayor Johnnie Wells, who said: “It’s great to see these previously unused areas of the Edward Hain Centre coming back to life. Thank you to everyone who made this happen.”

On the day, visitors can expect a warm welcome from the Edward Hain Centre volunteers. They will be able to enjoy tea and cakes from the café, as well as a barbecue run by Chris, from the Food Bank.

Inside the centre, there will be a display showcasing the garden’s transformational journey, including before, during, and current photographs. There will also be a plant sale, workshops, and a garden-themed raffle. Families can enjoy seed planting, and pot or stone decorating activities.

After the event, the Wellness Walled Garden will remain open as a tranquil outdoor space for everyone to enjoy. The St Ives community will be welcome to garden quietly on their own, work alongside friends, or join small groups supporting the garden’s upkeep, where they can learn new gardening skills.

“We hope to support volunteer-led gardening and wellbeing sessions as interest grows, offering a calm, restorative environment for both centre visitors and staff,” said a spokesperson.
