Volunteers are being sought to help plant a wood on land above St Ives Community Orchard, on the lower slopes of Penbeagle Hill.

The aim is to plant 500 trees and for the new woodland to be called Koos Govenek — Hope Wood in Cornish.

The orchard team will be clearing the site on Sundays, starting from November 3, and for those who want to come along all tools will be provided, including gloves. You’ll also need strong shoes or boots.

The actual tree planting will take place on November 30 — the Woodland Trust’s Big Climate Fightback tree planting day — and December 1, from 11am until 3pm. Meet by the shed at the orchard.
