On a fresh, windy Saturday afternoon, conditions were about perfect for what has become a favourite fixture on the St Ives calendar, Kite Fest, staged on The Island.
It’s a great family day out, trying to get the kites in the air in the first place, then keeping them aloft against the town backdrop.
Some kites are professionally made, some had been made at a workshop held a week ago in St Ives Library, where Billy ‘Dr Kite’ Wynter led youngsters in putting together colourful creations.
St Ives mayor Johnnie Wells was on hand to help some families get their kites aloft, and Scouts were among the youngsters taking part.
