Surfers will be descending on St Ives on May 16 and 17 when the British Longboard Union (BLU) stages its inaugural Porthmeor Longboard Classic.

Porthmeor is a fantastic location fo competitive surfing, say the organisers, and the natural, amphitheatre-like shape of the bay gives an unrivalled viewing experience for spectators.

Some of the best longboarders in Britain will compete across a range of divisions, from under-16s to grand masters. Competitors will include current WLT surfers Emily Currie and 11-time European longboard champion Ben ‘Skindog’ Skinner.

The Porthmeor Longboard Classic will be the second stop on the BLU’s 25th anniversary tour. It is being held in association with the Tregenna Castle Hotel, St Ives BID, and Saints Boardriders.

Further details will be released closer to the date. In the meantime, keeping watching the BLU website and Facebook page.
