Andrew George MP is to meet Susan Davy, retiring chief executive of South West Water at the St Erth sewage works today to discuss pollution issues.

It’s part of his continuing campaign to clean up the coast and rivers, and will demand answers following another shocking catalogue of sewage pollution around west Cornwall again this week.

Mr George had led local MPs in a call on Ms Davy to resign last month. She announced her intention to ‘retire’ the following day.

“I’m grateful Susan Davy has agreed to meet me at St Erth,” said Mr George. “Hundreds of constituents, from The Lizard to the Isles of Scilly, have contacted me to complain about worsening sewage spills in recent years.

“Others are shocked that top executives and shareholders have continued to award themselves while pollution levels worsen.

“We pay the highest bills in the country, but don’t see services improve. Then many householders with cesspits have been turned away when needing to empty. It’s just not good enough. Frankly it’s a s**tshow.”
