The weather stayed fair for St Ives Feast Day and crowds were treated to the usual spectacle of parades, fundraising events, and, of course, the youngsters’ chase around town to claim possession of the heralded silver ball.

Holding the ball at noon this year, and returning it to mayor Johnnie Wells for a reward, was Jasper Walmsley.

Other children from St Uny and St Ives Infants schools took part in processions.

A Feast Day coffee morning at the Western Hotel raised £650 for the Friends of Edward Hain Centre.

For many years Bagas Porthia provided musical accompaniment for various civic parades and events in St Ives. This year it was announced that group leaders Dee and Dave Brotherton would be entrusting this important role to a newly-formed processional band, and they made their debut on Monday.

In the evening, the Scaleybacks of Hakey Bay paraded through town in costume, from the Golden Lion to The Sloop.
