The team of James and Carolyn Brown, Chris Martin, and Birte Hosken were beaten 8-4 when they visited Falmouth in the final match. But the four points were enough to ensure St Ives finished second in the table, behind runaway champions St Agnes B.

James Brown and Chris Martin won the men’s doubles 2-1 on a deciding champions tie-break after splitting the opening two sets, and then James teamed up with his wife, Carolyn, to take their mixed doubles 2-1, also on a champions tie-break shoot-out.

But straight sets wins in the other mixed and the ladies’ doubles put Falmouth 6-4 ahead on sets to also secure the two winning bonus points. St Ives finished the campaign with eight victories from their 12 league matches.

The club have entered two men’s and a ladies’ team in the Tennis Cornwall Summer Leagues which are scheduled to start at the end of April.
