St Ives Tennis Club has raised £700 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance by staging its first ever pickleball tournament.

St Ives Tennis Club pickleball competition

This is a sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis, which can be played on a tennis court.

Thirty-two members and guests took part in the event, which was organised by Birte Hosken and James Brown. Fun it may have been, but competition was keen, with Matt Trevorrow and Aimee Hall beating fellow St Ives club member Christian Guerrini and visitor Jackie Craven, from Torquay, in the final.

A total of £350 was raised from entry fees, a barbecue lunch, donations, and a bring and buy stall, with the club fund-matching that amount.
