Award-winning St Ives-based printmaker and lifeguard Trevor Price has a new selling exhibition, Romantic Atlantic, at the Porthminster Gallery.

Trevor Price Romantic Atlantic

The new show is a selling exhibition of new and recent signed and editioned etchings, relief engravings, and woodcut prints.

The works on show are inspired by the artist’s love and respect for Cornwall’s cold Atlantic waters, with their surging and spilling, dumping and collapsing waves, and rip currents.

The exhibition is supported with additional prints and paintings by the artist, alongside a curated display of ceramics and sculptures by selected gallery artists.

“I am a sea swimmer and part of the surf lifesaving community here in St Ives,” says Trevor. “My studio looks across the bay, and I am either on, in, or looking out at the water, so it seemed inevitable that my art took the sea as its primary influence.

“With a nod to Japanese woodblock printing, Hokusai’s Great Wave is substituted for those at Porthmeor.”

The show runs until 23rd July.
