St Ives RFC’s new season gets under way on 7th September, and this season The Hakes, as they are nicknamed, are welcoming more support from Cornish businesses.
The club, based at Alexandra Road, have a long and proud history within St Ives. They run a very successful junior section, with teams ranging from under-sevens to under-16s. This season, they look forward to the performance of their Colts team, which returned last season after an absence of several years.
The club has established itself in the senior leagues, while the youth section has grown its membership to unprecedented levels.
With the upcoming redevelopment of Alexandra Road, it is an exciting time for St Ives RFC, with plans to improve the grounds and clubhouse, support players, and provide better facilities for those who visit.
Alongside welcoming more supporters, St Ives RFC consolidated and pursued new sponsorship deals during the 2023/4 season, and is now renewing this support for the start of the coming season.
Among those sponsors is Cornish Riviera Holidays, who have returned as a major player, with branding on the 1st and 2nd team shorts, as the business celebrates 40 years.
Established in 1984, Cornish Riviera Holidays is an independent, local family-owned, St Ives-based self-catering holiday letting agent. They manage a wide range of properties from modern apartments and townhouses to fisherman’s cottages and artists’ lofts.
“Celebrating our 40th year in business, it’s an exciting time for Cornish Riviera Holidays, and we are looking forward to celebrating that with a great season for the Hakes,” said co-director Matt Nellyar.
“We enjoyed our sponsorship of the team last year, and we are excited to renew for the season ahead.
Fellow director Andy Dale added: “We are extremely proud to support St Ives Rugby Football Club, a club at the heart of the St Ives community. We are looking forward to seeing players on the pitch with our logos on all of the shorts, and enjoying the atmosphere at the grounds.”
Paul Sanders, 1st team manager for St Ives RFC, said: “We are grateful to Cornish Riviera Holidays and all of the businesses who have agreed to support us this coming season.
“We are proud to display Cornish Riviera Holiday’s logos on our shorts for a second year, and welcoming them and their guests to our grounds. The atmosphere at matches is fantastic and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to come and support us.”
